Bron i dair mlynedd i mewn – fedra i ddweud a llaw ar fy nghalon mai cychwyn y busnes yma ydi’r peth anoddaf dwi erioed wedi ei wneud a fyswn i wedi medru rhoi’r ffidil yn y tô nifer o weithiau ond dwi’n gwybod petawn i wedi, y byswn i’n difaru.
Bum mlynedd yn ôl fyswn i ddim wedi medru llifio’n syth heb son am unrhyw beth arall ond dwi’n gweld datblygiad creadigol yn fy ngwaith a ffordd o feddwl drwy’r adeg a mae dysgu gymaint o ddydd i ddydd yn rywbeth na fedra i ffeirio yn ôl am ddiwrnod naw tan bump arferol bellach – fedra i ddim. A mae gweithio i fi fy hun y teimlad gorau erioed. Dwi hefyd yn falch iawn o weld busnesau ‘band un dyn/dynes’ eraill creadigol o’r safon uchaf yn yr ardal yn gwneud cystal. Parch.
Os oes yna rywun talentog a phenderfynol efo dipyn o ardddeliad iddyn nhw yn darllen hwn ac yn meddwl gwneud rywbeth tebyg – gnwewch o i’r diawl. Fues i’n ddigon gwirion, a dwi’n dra diolchgar am hynny.
Yn ystod y flwyddyn nesa’ dwi am ddechrau dylunio casgliad ychydig yn wahanol, fydd yn defnyddio mwy o elfennau celfyddydol o ran edrychiad a chysyniad y darnau. Er dweud hyn bydd posib archebu be bynnag y mynnwch wedi ei wneud i faint yr un fath ac arfer, a mi fydd mwy o bethau ar gael o Etsy – ar sêl o’r 4ydd.
O ran y casgliad newydd, fydd raid i chi aros ryw chydig ond dwi’n gobeithio tynnu ysbrydoliaeth o dirlun y gogledd a hanesion lleol – Eryri, Môn, Llŷn, nant Conwy ayyb. Petai hi’n stopio glawio am hanner awr ella fyswn i’n medru cael gwell golwg ar fy nghynefin i ddechrau!
Fel sy’n arferol efo blogs pobol credigol, dwi’n tueddu i adael hwn yn rhy hir yn rhy amal felly falch dweud mod i am gydweithio a Pharc Cenedlaethol Eryri ar brosiect ehangach sy’n cynnwys diweddaru y blog yma’n amlach. Mi fydd y cynnwys yn amrywio o waith coed i gelf ac o ddylawnadau i lwybrau’r mynydd a be bynnag arall sy’n mynd a’m mryd. Mwy o wybdoaeth yma yn fuan iawn iawn.
Tra fy mod i wrthi – diolch i bawb am gefnogi ym mhob ffordd yn ystod 2015 ac edrych ymlaen yn arw i’ch gweld chi i gyd yn ystod 2016. Mwynhewch be sy’n weddill o’r gwyliau a byddwch lawen.
Rhodri.
Nearly three years in to this venture – I can say with hand on heart that starting this business is the hardest thing I’ve ever done and I could’ve easily given up numerous times but I would regret it so much if I did.
Five years ago I couldn’t even saw straight, never mind anything else but I can see the creative development in my work since then and the change in the way I think all the time. Learning so much from day to day is something I couldn’t swap for a nine to five job by now – I just couldn’t, and working for yourself, making everything happen is the best feeling. I’m also really glad to see a number of successful creative “one man/woman bands” in the area doing so well, and doing so to such a high level of quality. Respect to you all.
If there’s someone out there who’s talented and determined reading this thinking of doing something similar, then do it. I was dumb enough at the time, and I’m eternally grateful for that by now.
During the next year I’m going to start designing a few different pieces which will use more of an art concept of design. Saying this it will still be possible to order pieces made to measure and there will be stock on Etsy on sale from the 4th.
You’ll have to wait for more details of the new collection but I’m hoping to take inspiration from the north Wales landscape and local stories of Snowdonia, Anglesey, Llŷn, nant Conwy and so on. If it’d stop raining for half an hour I might have a better chance of having a look at my spectacular habitat.
As is usual in creative people’s blogs, I tend to let this go without posting for way too long and so I’m glad to say that I’ll be coworking with Snowdonia National Park on a broader project which includes updating this blog more often. The content will range from woodworking to art, from creative influences to mountain paths and whatever else takes my fancy. More information here very very soon.
While I’m at it, thank you to everyone who supported me during 2015. I look forward to hopefuly seeing you all again in 2016. Enjoy what’s left of the holidays.
